A Vietnamese budget carrier has pledged to slash ticket prices by up to 50 percent to help spur the growth of the country’s tourism industry after it entered into partnership with the Ho Chi Minh Tourism Association.
The price cut is only applicable to flights for tour packages offered by domestic agencies under the association, VietJet Air said Wednesday.
The carrier and the travel association recently inked a special cooperation pact to boost tourism development.
With air tickets normally accounting for 45-50 percent of a tour’s total cost, the agreement will enable domestic tourism agencies to offer more affordable packages which will in turn encourage tourism growth, according to a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association.
Vietnam is promoting the country’s incredible heritage sites and the carrier and the association are hoping that cheaper tours will drive more Vietnamese and international travelers to explore such destinations.
VietJet Air has launched new routes to some less well-known destinations, such as Quy Nhon in the south-central region, Dong Hoi in the north-central part, and Chu Lai in the central area of the country to accelerate tourism growth in these localities, where travelers can discover unspoiled beaches, incredible scenery, and fascinating heritage sites.
