This year, the Dance festival “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” takes place for the 5th time in Hanoi and HCM city from September 30 through October 4.
The festival received a lot of attention and applause by both media and the public and has successfully contributed to a growing awareness of contemporary dance in Hanoi since 2011.
“Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” is an initiative of EUNIC, the Network of European cultural institutes and embassies in Hanoi, in cooperation with the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNBO) and it will be coordinated again by the Goethe-Institut.
The audience will experience a broad and varied spectrum of contemporary dance from different countries: France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Poland – taking part for the first time – as well as new performances from the host country Vietnam.
In addition there will be a co-production of Wallonie-Bruxelles and Vietnam. A special highlight of this year’s dance festival will be the performance of the internationally renowned Compagnie Sasha Waltz & Guests from Berlin in the Hanoi Opera House.
For the first time at several venues: “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” mainly takes place at Youth Theatre Hanoi, 11 Ngo Thi Nham; the German production “Zweiland” will be performed on 2nd and 3rd October at Hanoi Opera House, 1 Trang Tien. Also, this is the first time the dance festival takes place in HCMC: The performances of France and Wallonie-Bruxelles will perform on 2nd and 3rd October.
