The central province of Quang Nam on August 25 publicised an antiquityrecently recognised as a national treasure and some pieces of thenational intangible cultural heritage.

The national treasure was Mukhalinga, a linga with the head of the Hindugod Shiva discovered at the My Son Sanctuary in November 2012.
Dating back from the 7th – 8th century, it is a unique object of theethnic Cham people and typical for the shape and symbolic meaning of aMukalinga. The item was recognised as a national treasure by on January13 this year.
Also at the ceremony, the Quang Nam Department Culture, Sports andTourism unveiled other pieces recently named part of the nationalintangible cultural heritage: the “Tung tung da da” dancing and thebrocade making of the Co Tu ethnic group, the Bai Choi singing, the CoBa Cho Duoc procession ritual, the Ba trao singing, and the erection ofthe Neu pole and the set of Gu of the Cor ethnic people in Bac Tra Mydistrict.
At present, Quang Nam is also home to 300 provincial tangible culturalheritage and 60 national tangible cultural heritage pieces, includingthe My Son Sanctuary and the Hoi An ancient town listed as specialnational heritage.
