Two Vietnamese film projectshave been officially selected to take part in the 18th Asian ProjectMarket (APM) as part of the 2015 Busan Film Festival in the Republic ofKorea (RoK).
The selected projects are ‘Cha Cha Cha’ and ‘The Lottery Boy’ by youngdirectors Do Quoc Trung and Tran Dung Thanh Duy, respectively.
They will be produced by young directors who have already been honouredat many international film festivals, with Phan Dang Di and Tran BichNgoc producing ‘Cha Cha Cha’, and Nguyen Hoang Diep and Nguyen TrinhHoan producing ‘The Lottery Boy’.
Do Quoc Trung is considered an up-and-coming Asian director, alongsideKanu Behl (India) who was invited to the Un Certain Regard section of2014 Cannes Film Festival with his first feature film, and Eddie Cahyono(Indonesia) who was invited to the 2014 Rotterdam International FilmFestival.
The APM is the largest film investment and co-production organisationin Asia. There are 30 official projects from 15 countries being producedfor its 18th year.
Over the past 17 years, APM has supported a total of 442 projects, ofwhich around 200 were completed and presented at numerous prestigiousfilm festivals around the world.
The host, the RoK, made a strong impression at this year’s event withseven selected projects by talented directors such as 2014 BusanInternational Film Festival invitee director Kim Tae-yong and 2014Berlin International Film Festival invitee director Leesong Heeil.
The 2015 APM also saw an increase in the participation of other Asiancountries, particularly Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Philippines andIraq.
The 18th APM will take place from October 4 to 10 in Busan city.
