The seminar had the attendances of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung – Deputy Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT); Ms Nguyen Thi Hong – Vice Chairwoman of People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of Vietnamese Embassy in Russian Federation, Vietnamese and Russian tourism enterprises; and press agencies.
At the seminar, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong introduced tourism potentials and development policies of Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City is an economic, cultural and social centre and also one of the most dynamic tourism cities of Viet Nam. To Ho Chi Minh City, tourists will have the opportunity to explore an 300-year Orient city with French-style old buildings, special cultural and historical relics, unique museums, specific tourism products and many quality tourism services.
Tourism has been identified as one of the key economic sectors contributing positively to the development of Ho Chi Minh City. In 2006 – 2014 period, international tourists to the city had the average increase of 9.5%/year, accounting for 55% of international tourist arrivals to Viet Nam; tourism receipts increased on average by 20%/year, accounting for 43% of tourism receipts of Viet Nam. Particularly in 2014, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 4.4 million international tourist arrivals and in 2015, this number is expected to 4.8 million arrivals.
Ho Chi Minh City is one of the leading localities of Viet Nam in implementation of comprehensive cooperation activities with Russian Federation. In the field of tourism, Russian Federation has been identified as a source market, one of the top 10 countries and territories sending the largest number of tourists to Ho Chi Minh City. In 2014, there were nearly 150,000 Russian tourist arrivals to Ho Chi Minh City (up 18% compared to 2013), accounting for 52% of Russian tourist arrivals to Viet Nam. Tourism enterprises in Viet Nam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular also have many promotion activities to boost the city’s tourists to Russian Federation.
Also at the seminar, Deputy Director General of VNAT Nguyen Quoc Hung presented current situation, policies and typical offering of Viet Nam tourism, thereby calling Russian and international tourists to Viet Nam. Deputy Director General Nguyen Quoc Hung also affirmed that Viet Nam always creates the best conditions to welcome international tourists, especially Russian tourists.
International Trade Fair For Travel & Tourism Otdykh is the largest annual international tourism trade fair in Russian Federation and Commonwealth of Independent States. Joining in the fair is the opportunity for Viet Nam to enhance promotion of tourism products of MICE, cruise, leisure, cuisine, shopping… In the fair, many Russian tour operators specializing in Viet Nam market in collaboration with Vietnamese tourism enterprises held many booths to promote tourist sites and tourism products of Viet Nam. |
