VietNamNet Bridge – The fifth national stamp exhibition (VietStampex 2015) kicked off in Hanoi on December 11 with 138 sets of stamps on display, including many rare collections.
The stamps were designed with various themes honouring the Party, Uncle Ho, Vietnam and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as the country’s sea and islands, social issues, nature and the environment. There are also ancient stamps and postcards dated to the 1980s and 1990s of the 19th century.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son said the 2015 VietStampex is a lively museum which showcases small-sized artworks introducing visitors to the land, people and national cultural identities of Vietnam.
The event offers an opportunity for stamp researchers and collectors to meet and exchange, thus boosting stamp collection among the public, he said. The exhibition is also among activities hosted by the MIC to encourage patriotism and national pride among Vietnamese.
VietStampex is jointly held by the MIC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Post and Vietnam Stamps Association.
