The National Assembly House design by German company gmp InternationalGmbH has just won the Grand Prize 2014 of the Viet Nam Architects’Association.
The jury highly appreciated the design for its actual usecapacity, while blending well with the surrounding environment and otherimportant buildings considered to be the capital’s symbols such as theHo Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Bac Son Martyr Monument and world heritagesite Thang Long Citadel Complex.
The company, founded by Meinhard von Gerkan and Volkwin Margin 1965, now has eight more partners. At present, gmp is involved inprojects in various countries such as China, Russia, Viet Nam and Italy,besides the United Arab Emirates.
As many as 26 other architectural structures have won theassociation’s 2014 awards. Noted HCM City-based architect Vo Trong Nghiaand his colleague achieved a hat-trick this year with three gold prizesin the single house category, public design category for servicebuildings (hotels, resorts) and another public design category (forschools and hospitals)
The HCM City-based a21 Studio led by architect Nguyen HoaHiep also won three prizes for their buildings in the residential houseand public design categories.
The awards will be given at a ceremony to be held in Ha Noion Saturday, while a workshop on architecture as a career in Viet Namand its future in new era will be held on Sunday.
