VietNamNet Bridge – A photo book titled Ky Uc Chien Tranh (Memories of War) by former Vietnam News Agency journalist Chu Chi Thanh will be reprinted in Vietnamese and English this month in its original size, with some small revisions.
One among four photos brought journalist Chu Chi Thanh the State Prize in Literature and Arts in 2012. |
The book features dozens of Thanh’s photos taken between 1967 and 1973 at the 17 North Parallel (in the central province of Quang Tri) and in the north.
The book is divided into nine topics, including Tuyen Lua Khu Bon (Fierce Battle of Zone 4); Ha Noi va Hai Phong 12 Ngay Dem (Ha Noi and Hai Phong during 12 Days and Nights of Air Attack by American); Jane Fonda va Ban Be Quoc Te (Jane Fonda and International Friends) and Phong Vien Thoi Chien (Journalists in War Time).
Before it was published in a book in 2010, the collection was displayed in many localities like Ha Noi, HCM City, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Ben Tre and other localities between 2007 and 2009, attracting more than 131,000 audiences.
Thanh started working as a journalist for Vietnam News Agency in 1966. He has been the head of the Department for Journalism Photo Editing and Producing, and chairman of the Viet Nam Photographers’ Association.
He received a State Prize in Literature and Arts in 2012 for a set of four photos of Vietnamese soldiers being released from American prisons after the signing of the Paris Agreement, which ended the war. The photos were taken in Quang Tri Province in 1973.
