Hong Kong foundation offers $500,000 to build world-class ICT spanark in Vietnam

A foundation under a Hong Kong-based company will offer a $500,000 grant to help Vietnam establish a world-class facility to create more job opportunities in the field of Information and Commutation Technology (ICT) for young Vietnamese.

Dodson Norwood said Friday in a press release that the Dodson Norwood Foundation will provide the grant under its e-Vietnam project as part of the foundation’s Digital Jobs initiative.

The support is set to facilitate the completion of a mini ICT park, which is expected to provide both direct and indirect employment to over 10,000 people, primarily youth, according to the press release.

Access to real estate is the main limitation to the expansion of Vietnam’s business process outsourcing sector, which hinders new job opportunities for an increasingly unemployed young population, the firm said in the release, citing findings from recent research funded by the foundation.

The grant will help address the problem by establishing a world-class facility which will act as a mini ICT park to create new jobs for the IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) sector in Vietnam.

“The Dodson Norwood Foundation applauds the commitment for steering the hiring at this new state of the art ICT Park towards poor and vulnerable [people],” Zhu G. Xinquan, CEO of Dodson Norwood, was quoted as saying in the press release.

The project will transform the landscape of Vietnam’s IT and ITES sector while ensuring that disadvantaged young people are the ultimate beneficiaries, Xinquan said.

Based in Hong Kong, Dodson Norwood is a boutique firm that provides access to investment strategies and techniques used by the largest and most sophisticated private and institutional investors, according to the press release.

The company seeks to consistently generate superior risk-adjusted returns by providing premium investment, management and research services.

The Dodson Norwood Foundation is entering its second year of the Digital Jobs initiative, whose ultimate goal is to impact the lives of one million people through digital jobs for disadvantaged youths.
