Tan Son Nhat International Airport has announced a plan to install more surveillance cameras after many baggage thefts were reported in the first nine months.

The airport in Ho Chi Minh City has reported 31 cases of passengers complaining about stolen property so far this year.

The airport has also found 15 workers stealing from passengers’ luggage.

It said eight passengers have been caught stealing.

A total of 1,346 pieces of baggage were not intact when being delivered to passengers in the first nine months.

The airport said it will install another 130 cameras by the end of this year to strengthen security.

It now has 291 cameras at the international terminal and 119 at the domestic terminal.

Last week, the Northern Airport Authority said it may make baggage handlers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi wear cameras in an effort to curb baggage theft.
