Vietjet launches Ho Chi Minh City – Yangon service

Budget carrier Vietjet Air inaugurated Friday its newest international route, a nonstop service between Ho Chi Minh City and Yangon, in a bid to meet the rising demand from Vietnamese and Burmese travelers.

The new service is launched on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Myanmar, and will thus also contribute to bilateral economic and cultural exchange between the two countries, according to Vietjet.

The new route will be operated with a frequency of five return flights per week on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a flying time of around 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Flights depart Ho Chi Minh City at 10:25 am and arrive in Yangon at 12:10 pm (local time). Returned flights take off Yangon at 1:00 pm (local time) and land in Ho Chi Minh at 3:45 pm.

Myanmar and Vietnam have recently become the new destinations for international investment in the region, whereas the two economies also witness impressive economic growth.

Vietjet thus takes Yangon as a next important spot in the airline’s plan to expand its international network, according to the carrier.

Vietjet boasts a fleet of 28 aircraft, including A320s and A321s, and operates 190 flights each day with a network of 35 routes in Vietnam and across the region to international destinations such as Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China and Myanmar.
