New air service to link Can Tho and Nha Trang

Tran Doan The Duy, deputy general director of Vietravel, said the company has agreed with Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) over Can Tho-Nha Trang service. VASCO will operate charter flights to carry Vietravel guests between Can Tho and Nha Trang.

The maiden flight will be launched on December 10 using ATR-72 aircraft and there will be three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

According to VASCO deputy director Vu Duc Bien, the estimated flying time is 85 minutes. Flights will depart from Can Tho Airport at 3:05 p.m. and land at Cam Ranh Airport of Khanh Hoa Province at around 5:00 p.m.

Single airfares will range from VND0 to VND1.85 million, said Tran Tuong Huy, general director of WorldTrans Travel and Transport Services Co.Ltd.

According to Bien, Vietnam Airlines Corporation and VASCO will operate scheduled Can Tho-Nha Trang flights in the long run to meet demand of travelers and tourism firms.

Duy said that to sustain Can Tho-Nha Trang flights, Vietravel is calling for assistance from the government of Can Tho to promote the service to people in Can Tho and elsewhere in the Mekong Delta through travel agencies.

Vietravel will offer free bus shuttles for customers in Ca Mau Province and Rach Gia of Kien Giang Province to go to and from Can Tho Airport.

Vietravel is working to resume Can Tho-Dalat air service on December 10 with three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, instead of two as before. Departure times in Can Tho and Dalat will be 12:55 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. respectively.

Dao Anh Dung, vice chairman of Can Tho City, proposed Vietravel and other relevant agencies resume Can Tho-Bangkok service which had been suspended due to low seat occupancy.
